To provide participants with the language necessary to deal with English speaking patients; to provide skills for attending conferences or courses and give presentations in English.
Introductions and building a rapport with patients.
Asking about symptoms (common questions, relevant vocabulary).
Describing the treatment.
Giving instructions to the patient during treatment and about care afterwards, e.g. necessary precautions.
Presentations: Introductions, Finishing, Discourse markers, Using visuals, Dealing with questions.
Commonly confused connecting words and expressions used in scientific texts.
Participants to be provided with a pack at the beginning of the course including material to be used during the course and for reference.
Presentation of useful vocabulary, expressions and grammar used in the context of dental work.
Pairwork and group work including role play, to practise using language learnt.
Correction of mistakes, including pronunciation vocabulary and grammar errors.
B1 or B2 level (low intermediate to upper intermediate).
Level testing by telephone interview.
An experienced qualified native speaker.
LENGTH AND TIMETABLE A total of 16 hours divided into two consecutive weekends, in four sessions of four hours on a Friday afternoon and Saturday morning:
